For 24 years, Richard Bradshaw has served as Commissioner of the Revenue for James City County, working with citizens and businesses and government to equitably assess taxes.
It's not an easy job, given the complexity of the tax code and the need to communicate with citizens so that they understand what they're paying and why, in layman's terms.
It's a job where experience really matters. Where the willingness and ability to work one-on-one with citizens and business owners and other government officials is crucial. And where technology should be embraced as a tool, only when it is safe and secure, with the recognition that it can never replace the need for accessibility and the willingness to be directly involved with citizens.
